The December 1997 issue (Volume 35, No 6) of "Euroabstracts" has just been published by the European Commission, DG XIII. One of the range of publications funded by the INNOVATION programme, it provides information on recent scientific publications resulting form Community research activities.

As usual, Section I highlights a number of key publications of more general scientific interest, in particular those relevant to policy issues. Publications addressing research in the USA, Russia and Korea, as well as several European countries are reviewed. In the EC briefing section, publications linked to a number of EU programmes are featured. Other issues such as innovation, energy and the Information Society are also covered.

The in-depth features in the current issue look at the European Innovation Monitoring System (EIMS), which was addressed in the recent CORDIS Focus Supplement No 14, and at the position of public libraries in the Information Society. Also highlighted are publications in the environmental and agricultural research fields. Finally the Webwatch section looks at recent changes in the CORDIS Web site.

Section II contains almost 500 abstracts of recent publications in the following fields: chemistry; earth sciences; engineering and technology; energy production, conversion and conservation; life sciences; materials; mathematics, computers, telecommunications; nuclear science and engineering; and physics.

This issue of "Euroabstracts" is the last in the current format. The next issue, in a redesigned style will be published in April 1998, and will be free of charge. Existing subscribers will continue to receive "Euroabstracts".
